The understatement of a lifetime is this: Reiki is my life.
1. I'm obligated.
Firstly, having been attuned as a Reiki Master Teacher it is my job to attune those who come to me who wish to become Reiki Practitioners on any level. This is really a given because what would be the point of me reaching this level of attunement and not sharing the amazing-ness that changed my entire life?
Secondly I know for a fact that I offer what other teachers cannot. I'm not saying I am a better teacher (by any means). What I mean is I have lived my own life and have my own ways of reaching others on a spiritual level through said living experience. Just like romantic comedies, I'm not for everyone. My unique perspective comes from my background as a transgender man. I was born female and transitioned to be male. I fit under the term "gender variant" in that my interests are out of the social norms for my identity as a straight male. I'm body modified, but live up to a high standard of professionalism. I have an open mind towards myself and others and do not judge based on appearances or identity. We're all human.
Continuing on that, a large focus of my business is LGBTQA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Ally) support. It's important that Ally be acknowledged - I do not exclude, but rather encourage heterosexual/straight individuals to come to my classes as the more understanding and love we have for one another the better. We are all human.
2. Self love is important.
This is another understatement. Those who are drawn to heal others are often the ones who need the most healing themselves. In Reiki I I hammer this into the brains of my students because not just Self Reiki, but self love in general is vital if you're going to do more than just "get by" in life. Remember the saying on how you can't fill another's glass if you have nothing in your own? It is my duty to teach others ways of loving themselves so that they may better serve others, which in the process is an act of love for myself. It's a cycle of giving and receiving.
3. We all have a purpose.
A lot of us as I mentioned above are just "getting by" in life. One of the keys to true happiness is finding our purpose and staying on course with said purpose. For me, Reiki is my purpose. Teaching is my purpose. I guess this ties back in with obligation, doesn't it? This also applies to my students. If I am capable of aiding my students in finding and/or keeping to their purpose, I will do so with love.
4. Intuition is underrated.
We've all heard of "listening to your intuition". Not a lot of us have any idea what that even means never mind how to actively do it! Reiki expands your intuitive sense and ability to do epic things for yourself and others. Wouldn't it be nice if you had someone sitting on your shoulder telling you the right things to do all the time? You do, it's just between your brows in the third eye instead! Teaching Reiki gives my students increased connection with their intuition. Need I say more?
5. Because I can.
I have what I initially titled as "disabilities" that I've converted now to "quirks". Being a Reiki Teacher gives me the stability and consistent calm needed in my life. I mean, how can you go wrong with teaching unconditional love? Yes, my struggle is still there and I have my times of seclusion, but I'm still genuinely happy doing what I do. That's a lot more than what I can say for most people I've come across in this life.
6. Feeling awesome is pretty awesome.
It doesn't matter how terrible my week has been or what is going on in my life; the moment I lay hands and channel healing to a client I am cleansed, revitalized and often quite chatty because I'm energized. Any time I give Reiki through a session or education I feel like pure awesome. Of course I want to share that skill and experience with others.
Like I said, Reiki is my life. I don't say this lightly. I would not be here if it were not for my Reiki I attunement and the classes that followed. I'm sure if you take one of my classes you'll hear me share my story. Essentially my joy comes from giving and receiving Reiki. My joy comes from the look of amazement when someone experiences it for the first time, or even the clients I've seen regularly and how they seem to come to life after a session. Feeling awesome is pretty awesome, wouldn't you agree?

One class with my Reiki Master Teacher a fellow student asked this question; "How do you know when it is your own mind answering a question or if it's your Higher Self?" You know what my RMT said? "Is the answer intelligent?"
A huge part of being a holistic worker is trusting your intuition and Higher Self (I'll refer to this as HS for sake of avoiding repetition). One of the easiest ways I know whether it is myself or my HS answering a question of mine is when the answer is not what I want it to be. My HS is that voice in my head that tells me the answer I know is right, but don't want to accept or take action on.
A fine example of this was last night. I resorted to using my pendulum to physically ask my HS for an answer. In summary my question was a choice of taking a pharmaceutical medication I've been prescribed or immediately doing self Reiki for my temporary emotional turmoil. I knew the medication would leave me groggy with a handful of other side effects, but would save me an hour of my time doing more self Reiki - However, I also knew that if I did more self Reiki I'd be side effect free and be more at peace with myself the next day. It was really a matter of pure laziness.
So I grabbed my pendulum (you'll see me in the future refer to it as my Pendulum Buddy) and asked "Should I take (medication)?" Before it even moved to tell me No, HS screamed "You know it's not for your highest and best!" I was stubborn and asked the opposing question "Should I do self Reiki?" ... I could feel HS giving a vibe and expression of un-amusement. My Pendulum Buddy gave me a strong Yes.
I'm sure I'm due for much more resistance to my Higher Self's wisdom as I know myself too well, but Higher Self knows me 10x better.
